Matt Link gave many friends a pet dragon
"Anything that you don't associate with fun, you're going to subconsciously avoid. It's a fact of life." - CX.
Wow, that's so true! An experiment I've been trying out with things I need to get done the past couple days is to: 1). First look at it in a way where what you expect is going to be stressful... And then 2). Look at it with an air of "fun!" attached to it.
For instance, let's say I'm getting ready to go vacuum the house. I could look at it and go, "Aw man, I really don't want to do this. That means I have to go unwrap that long cord, move stuff around, and it's going to take forever to get done! I've gotta hit every inch of the carpet, and I'm only going to have to do it again in a week. This is stressful and blah blah blah."
...Heh, not exactly inspiring, is it?
OR
Now look at the same task of vacuuming the house and think, "Wow, this could be fun! I'm gonna be getting up and moving around a bit, I'm gonna see if I can beat my last time that I vacuumed, perhaps see if I can do a better job. This will be a fun challenge, and besides, my floor is gonna look great afterwords!"
Wow, that's more like it!
See the difference there? Both are the EXACT same task, but I guarantee you that each approach will bring vastly different results. In the example above, even if vacuuming the house is still difficult, it will seem less so because of how you approached it. You're not ignoring the reality before you, just changing your relationship toward it .
So how about you: Is there something you need to do in your life that you keep avoiding because it seems like a lot of work or something to be stressed about? How can you look at it differently to where you're no longer playing a victim being prosecuted by a mountain of a task, but instead approaching it as a creator looking for a fun way to meet a challenge that lays before you?
Congratulations, now you've turned a task that you have the potential to procrastinate and put off because of how "bad" it sounds into something far more inspiring for you! Do this with everything and your life will drastically change!
I'm most grateful today for the chance to imbue this uplifting attitude into all my tasks, and the chance to share this with those who desire to hear it..... Thank you!
So here's a fun pet dragon for everyone. May it bring enjoyment to you by taking care of it
Cheers & Namaste!
